Another for my Eye on Bird series. I found a book of bird clip art, it's loaded with birds of all kinds...  Most likely separated from larger illustrations on vintage greeting cards and decorative items. Wasn't sure if I'd be able to make the illustrated bird look "real" enough, another Eye on Bird painting tomorrow!
Do you like my new tagline? "The Art of What Sets Cats Apart" is a bit more memorable than the old "(fe)line, shape & color," me thinks...

Too much to do and not enough time...  I've been repeating the mantra:  "Getting it done is more important than getting it perfect" in my head. It applies to laundry, grocery shopping, bill paying and a myriad of mundane tasks that just gotta get done...  This mantra is not ideal for painting, but then time spent painting is nearly never mundane, so there's that.

Note to self:  Never underestimate the blissful pleasure derived from new paint brushes.  

A new No. 8 round brush beats a "modified" No. 2 for whisker painting any day of the week.  :)

Eye on Sparrow + unsolicited painting advice

So glad I painted today...  "Eye on Sparrow" was just the ticket to get myself back in the game.   If you have a bad painting day, heed this advice: Distract yourself right away, do not wallow.  Read a good book, do some recreational shopping or clean the cabinet under the sink. Most importantly, paint again, soon.

The subjects of this painting were photographed in two different places...  The sparrow frequents the outdoor cafes at the Cleveland Zoo and kitty waits for adoption at the Cleveland Animal Protective League...  Kitty considered pouncing and decided against it.
