A Recent Commission Portrait of Horse and Boy

A recent commission, 10" x 8"
Doing commissions can be a living hell for many artists, myself included.  John Singer Sargent said it best "A portrait is a painting with something wrong with the mouth." (Cracks me up every time. ...he is one of my painting heroes!) Having said that, every once in a while I take a commissioned portrait gig and the stars align and everything works out beautifully!  This is one of them.

  4. This is so beautiful--which confirms my belief that you are one of the best animal portrait artists in the world. And though I haven't liked some of your people (only due to skin tone) as well as your cats, this young person is amazing. Sargent would have loved it too.

  5. Horses are tough! You nailed it! I loved that Sargent quote too, and I say if there is something off with just the mouth, that's a pretty good portrait! lol
