Cats have tapetum lucicum which is a silver, mirror-like tissue at the back of their eyes. It causes their eyes to glow... It also helps them see at night. They require only 1/6th of the light we do in order to see clearly. I think our cat knows we don't see as well in the dark. He's always faster to move out of the way at night.
