Completed custom art: Sugar the cat. At first the idea was to have a generic quilt in the background. And doncha know I buzzed over to Amazon and bought a fabulous book of quilt patterns. (Yes, I am addicted to books of patterns, the more the better.) But then my buyers had a brilliant idea: Why not use a treasured family heirloom as background? Gotta love it. They submitted photos of the woman's mother's handmade quilt. A few versions were tried out in photoshop-- The painting will hang on a green wall and this version not only accentuates Sugar's coloring & full moon round face, it will be great on that wall. Thanks E & A!!
Oh my goodness! This is gorgeous! I'm sure your clients are over the moon. Your work is such an inspiration as I try to get back into my art. Thanks for sharing.
Sugar looks like she's smarter than everyone else, Professor Sugar quieting the class in ready for her lecture? You really did an amazing job on the kitty, and I think that it's really so great of you to work with people's home decor, Diane, so many artists don't like that idea at all. Bravo!
This cat's face is so wonderfully alive. The little tilt and expression are universal and I can hear oooohs and ahhhhs all over the country when they see this one. I like the part of the quilt you chose - it harmonizes well with Sugar. Another masterpiece, Diane!
That is SOOOO amazing! I love the fact that the quilt is in their family, too- and goes so beautifully with Sugar (who I fell in love with immediately)! It will be so wonderful on that green wall....This is a grand-slam home run outa the park stand & cheer kind of painting!!! Very exciting on every level! (I'd love to see their reactions when they receive it!!- they are so lucky!!)
I don't know how you keep coming up with wonderful painting after wonderful painting, but you do, Diane! This one is just beautiful and those liquid eyes really captivate me. I could look at this repeatedly and not tire of it.
I think I've told you before that I'm not a cat person, but even so, your cat paintings blow my socks off. This is just stunning. You are truly a master of your craft.

ReplyDeleteAmazing!I also paint animals, but you are a superstar!Great expression.
ReplyDeleteBeing and interior designer, I can appreciate how you incorporate the patterns in the background also. Seems like they are old wall covering patterns.
