Here's another version of Designer Rough Poppy. This time I used acrylic paint instead of oils... Is "flattify" a word? Because I think that's what I did to to these poppies.
If you have an opinion on this painting, I'd love to hear from you via email or the comments section! (Thanks for looking.)
I don't know if "flattify" is a word, but I really love this painting! On some level it reminds me of a William Morris design. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove William Morris!! Thanks much, Janelle.
ReplyDeletegorgeous graphic
ReplyDeleteThis has a more decorative quality than your earlier pieces, and the flowers are less 3D in feel...but that's all fine! It's a beautiful study in color/value relationships...that blue vertical line is a brilliant stroke.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Diane!
Diane - I love your work and this painting certainly is more decorative. The only suggestion i can offer might be to decrease the value contrast of the background so it competes less with the poppies.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job and Happy New year !
I like the feeling of this- the neutral tones set off the reds and the flatness of the flowers is fine-actually i can feel the depth of them anyway! Its good that you can be versatile and do decorative painting.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much all for commenting! I am *devouring* the feedback on this piece and really appreciate it.
