Trio Pair pair of paintings of white flowers

Trio Pair  Oil and acrylic on paper  each approx 12" x 12"  NFS
Well, two finished paintings are better than two unfinished paintings, right?  I will do another round of white ranunculus next.  These are a little old time-y looking, not really what was I was going for.  The next set will have more contemporary background graphics.
In other news, my give-away bloggiversary winner chose "Cobalt Clues" and the painting shipped to Romania this morning.

A Bloggiversary Winner has been Chosen!

You may have been expecting an upside down hat with entries in it today.  But this year, I went high tech.  Subscribers were assigned numbers and the winning number was selected by an online generator.  Lucky number 228 has been notified.  If my powers of internet sleuthing are accurate, subscriber 228 lives in Romania and has been reading my blog posts since 2010!  I will give them a few days to check their email and let me know which painting they want.  (Before I pull another name due to absentee subscriber, it's happened before doncha know.)
This bloggiversary painting give away has proven itself to be an amazing way for me to connect with new people. If you are a new subscriber, thank you.  I don't take the privilege of landing in your inbox lightly.   Don't hesitate to hit reply and let me know you're there.  I welcome your input.  Thanks to all who are long time subscribers too.  Happy Bloggiversary, me!

Paintings in progress

Floating Ranunculus Works-in-Progress
Here's a pair of paintings in progress, each featuring floating ranunculus blooms.  I painted stems and a flat patterned background on one of them and was unhappy with it.  Doncha know I tried similar background elements again on the second and had the same unhappy results....  (They're meant to be a set.) After wiping off both backgrounds, I decided to stop.  :(

Dino and my New Still Life Props Shelf

Dino  Oil on wood  8" x 8"  NFS
I remembered a bunch of still life props while I was switching out shelves.  ...and I'm afraid I had to paint one.  Also for your amusement, a before and after shot.  Oh, the joy of a new shelf!  Is there room for more props!!!????  (Yes!)

My Ebook Has Published!

My "all consuming side project" is finally reaching fruition!

I am very pleased to announce:  My ebook "A Guide for the Introverted Artist:  share, sell & improve your art" is now available on Smashwords, here. If you are an introverted artist (like me) this ebook will help you identify and use your unique abilities to share, sell and improve your art.  I won't advise you to teach workshops or have an elevator speech that describes your art in under 30 seconds. I will however share what has worked for me. It's a must-read if you need a nudge towards getting online and sharing your art.
I'm really proud of this ebook and at just .99 cents, it's a bargain. (I had intended to make it free but books over a certain size must charge.) As the book becomes available on more familiar platforms like Kindle and Apple, you dear blog reader will be the first to know.
Never miss a post please subscribe to this blog, here.

Daffodils on Pattern II

Daffodils on Pattern II  Oil on wood  8" x 8"  SOLD
I painted another version of this last year (see that one here) and it was my favorite painting of 2012.  -- The muted purple in the background here really makes the daffodils jump, very very happy with it!  I may have to try a few more arrangements with complimentary colors...

Wild Thing cat painting pet portrait

Wild Thing  Oil on wood  8" x 8"  NFS
It's fun to try my hand at one of our critters after painting other people's pets...  Layla is a cranky kitty who will hiss at and claw her humans when she is not pleased. She does not share the bed and she does not share food or toys.  This portrait doesn't even look that much like her, but it is SO her.
