Pictures of my Art Studio
Click to see bigger. The upstairs kitchen in a (Tremont) Cleveland, OH duplex. By far the best studio I've ever had: It has a sink and a little deck out back. There's a side room (formerly home to a washer and dryer) for storage. And enough space in my studio for an easel, old drafting table and books. It faces North with lots 'o light. I do so love it. Lately, I haven't spent enough time there and I'm working on that. nodp

The 10 irises that I purchased at Trader Joes day before yesterday are wilted and sad looking today. Fortunately, I snapped some good reference photos while they were in full glory-mode. More iris paintings to come soon. ...on a side note, the photo of today's efforts is less than stellar and I will take another whenever the painting dries. ...and yes, it's raining again in Cleveland, OH.

Tweaking

It's nice to paint something and be done with it, but that doesn't always happen! I felt like the bright backgrounds on these paintings were competing for attention, so I darkened them and that has allowed the white of the flowers to pop very nicely. A few more little fixes here and there and that's it for these! I'm very happy with them. (Click pictures to see bigger!)This Week's Ebay Offering Pinocchio Portrait
This week's Ebay offering: One of my older Pinocchio portraits. Painting measures 6x6 and is painted on canvas panel. Bidding starts at $65 with no reserve, auction ends Sunday night.I will paint more irises next, at least that's the plan! Yellow Tulips

If you left a comment on my last post, thank you! When I find that I've lucked into a good composition or arrangement, I tend to repeat repeatedly. (: Here's the pretty tulips again, I swear I'm not sick of painting these yet and I still want to try even more color combinations. They are pale yellow ochre with a bright white/lemon background. Each measures 22" x 22" and they are oil on paper. Both are reserved. Hey! It's Friday night, time for a little cocktail.

River Landscape Painting
My friend Martha has a river running through her backyard in Northern California. When I knew her (in L.A.) she published a magazine and threw fundraisers. Since she moved up North, she slowed down a bit. Now she takes the most awesome outdoor photographs, one of which was the reference for this painting! This is my first try at landscapes. I will probably do more.
