Balance, white cat on a rope painting

Balance  Oil on panel, 10" x 10,"  NFS
I had the idea for three paintings... Ideas were promptly sketched (before they evaporated into the ether, as ideas will do doncha know.)  Including the sketch for "Balance." Two down and maybe another to follow. I'm especially pleased with the color harmony in this one, it's better in life!

White Maine Coon II

White Maine Coon II  Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  SOLD
White cats with one blue eye and one green are often referred to as "odd eyed." Did you know all kittens are born with blue eyes? I vaguely remember Coco having blue eyes-- The guy living upstairs from me at the time had a Blue Russian and he thought Coco might be one too. Considering the patchwork quilt of lovelies my kitteh was the first to leave, it seemed unlikely. Hope you're enjoying the long weekend!

White Maine Coon

White Maine Coon, Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  SOLD
She's fierce. Initially photographed at a fancy cat show, this lovely had different color eyes, one blue, one green.

Untitled, experiments in painting

Untitled, Oil on wood, 12" x 12" NFS

When I photographed my (step) daughter in law last May, I had her pose holding a string, thinkin' to paint a cat in later...  I used a stuffed animal as stand-in for cat, which helped for size and light reference. I never did use any of the string photos, though I did paint her a few times. (See those here.)
A recent photo expedition to the shelter provided the perfect kitteh.  (See to the right) I removed kitty's tail in the painting-- though now I see the tail might have been better curled a little looser to the side.  Maybe tweak this one some more and try another in full color!

Greta painting of a white cat in window

Greta  Oil on wood, 8" x 6," SOLD
I'm sure this cat would enjoy a penthouse with a view... For now she resides at the Cleveland Animal Protective League where she has a very good chance at adoption if she hasn't already been adopted.

Stealthy One a new cat floral painting

Stealthy One  Oil on wood, 10" x 10,"  NFS
A few floral cat combos this week and next...  I swing around to this theme when I need to streeetch.  Not to mention, Winter. It's gone below 0 a few times since last I blogged... Photographing fresh flowers in the studio was not a bad way to spend an afternoon. Side note: I love my job.

White Witch

White Witch  Oil on panel, 6" x 6,"  SOLD
It's a lot of packing going on here. Still. I'm worried about Coco. That little gray animal doesn't like change, though I've been reading up on how to make the transition easier for him...  If you have a tip/experience on moving with a cat, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Yellow String and Painting White Cats

Yellow String  Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  SOLD
Painting white cats can be tricky, understatement. But it's good to back up and try again.  I'm including "Lucretia" and "The Invitation" here...  They both influenced "Yellow String."
Lucretia (available here) and The Invitation, sold.

Holiday Cats! Christmas Kitten

Christmas Cat  Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  $330.  SOLD
Kitty elf booties!!  It's true what Tony Robbins said "Where focus goes, energy flows." I'm tempted to do more silly paintings of cats... and I feel energized by the design aspect of this series!

White Kitten II

White Kitten II  Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  SOLD
Born into a litter of jet black kittens, this kitty received a LOT of attention at the Cleveland APL. People made a beeline for her. She seemed to know the hands reaching into the cage were coming for her.  Not sure if I caught her leery countenance here but I'm happy with it.

White Kitten, a cat painting

White Kitten  Oil on panel, 8" x 8,"  SOLD
Be still my heart, a white kitten at the shelter! A rarity!  By the time you read this, it will probably be adopted. (Just checked the shelter website, no white kitten though her outgoing jet black siblings are available, here.)

Ivory Sees painting of white cat behind sunflowers

Ivory Sees  Oil on panel, 6" x 8,"  SOLD
I tried this composition in different colors with a different arrangement. (Detail of that to the left.) Didn't like it at all, but this one seems to work.

Eli, painting of a white cat

Eli  Oil on panel, 6" x 6," SOLD
Love this quote.  :)
Eli was available for adoption at the Cleveland APL a couple weeks ago, happily he's been adopted.  A volunteer there told me Spring usually ushers in many kittens.  This is a great time to visit the shelter and find a companion.

Invitation to Play, painting of white cat

Invitation to Play  Oil on panel, 8" x 6,"  SOLD
Coco has a new toy.  It's a scratchpad, sprinkle a little catnip on it and he's in heaven scratching and rolling about.  Watching cats play never gets old!
