A new still life prop!

Roseville Vase |
Isn't it fab? Found at an antique mall, it's an old Roseville vase that will eventually be incorporated into one of my still life paintings. Roseville made pottery here in Ohio from 1890 to 1954. It can pricey - but this one has a hairline crack in the back and a few dings- so, I got it for a steal ($12!) Doncha just love a bargain?
What an interesting vase! I love those unexpected finds and even better when the price is right!
ReplyDeleteYummy colors! (but then I'm an Autumn!) Can't wait to see it in a future painting!
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect...it has your name definitely on it, Diane! I look forward to seeing it in a future painting!!
ReplyDeleteYou scored. My sister collects Roseville and she has never found such a great bargain even for one that is cracked. Great prop.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your great find as I am painting freesias at the moment. They are so graceful from the side view like on your piece.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing it in a painting
I have Roseville-envy. Great find, look forward to the painting. I finally did a painting with a Barkcloth background, what fun!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like one of your backgrounds but on an object...cool!
ReplyDeleteAll about the bargain! Love the vase. Can't wait to see it in one of your paintings.
ReplyDeleteOh, you will have such fun with that! I can just imagine how your patterns will interact with the design. I have quite a few Roseville and Roseville-era vases that I love painting! There is one on the home page of my website and another on the portfolio page: www.dorothylorenze.com.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow Diane!- that's a lucky find! And it is lucky to find new life in one of it's new paintings....which will in turn go to a lucky new art collector some where...which will delight one of said collectors friends who visits & sees it... etc. It's fun to imagine the string of effects that this will have into the future!! Cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat find Diane, and unusual! Freesia pattern!
