I'll have another, please.
Nothing like a few vodka martinis on a Sunday afternoon, doh! This is one of 5 completed paintings-- larger versions of my favorite daily paintings. I took out the original turquoise background on this one and re-arranged the light pink flower to be more centered. The turquoise background adds a gem like quality to a 6x6 painting--but it looks almost garish on a 22" x 22" painting. The smaller painting is available in my Etsy store. nodp
Beautiful! Oh, and the painting is lovely too! :)

Was this horrifically difficult to do? I was thinking of enlarging some of mine, too. This came out great - and I like the neutral background - gives the flowers 'punch'!
ReplyDeleteI know .... things always have to be changed when enlarging .
ReplyDeleteIt looks great
Diane, It looks fantastic larger. I think it would bring happiness and life to any room!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful transfer Diane to the bigger scale and I agree absolutely about the background but I can see you still have some of the burnt orangey colour peeking through and that really brings it all to life.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! The paintings are almost as beautiful as you.
ReplyDeleteHi All, Thanks so very much for the comments!! Kelley: It wasn't horrifically hard. Things to keep in mind if you do it, what works small won't automatically translate. Be careful about large negative spaces especially. They haven't dried yet, so I can't say I would use this Arches paper again.... yet!!? But so far, it's been good with just one thick coat of gesso front and back (and sides/edges to seal the paper.) I may be able to roll them when I ship them! Thanks again to all, I may post pictures of the rest now too!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks great!
ReplyDeleteI came to your blog via Carol Schiff's blog and am I happy!! What delightful flowers. I am tempted to try my hand at flowers. For some reason, I have avoided them but seeing your work, I just might give it a try. Thanks. Honor
ReplyDeleteI have been admiring your little flower paintings in awe, but wow - your large one is fantastic! The colors and your placement of them are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I'd celebrate with a couple of libations myself if I could create such a masterpiece. I love it Diane. Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting - I like the large version. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow. I'd say the martinis work well for you!
ReplyDeleteI love your paintings. Vibrant color and great composition!
Hi Diane ~ love your blog and your art! I found this one intereswting as I have a samller painting that Ive done larger and the background colors did not work ~ I think for the the same reason yous tate here ~ the area being too large to carry the strong color ~ so....I'll pull it back outnow and see if cahnging the color helps!
ReplyDeleteWould love to add your link to my blog if you'd consider the same....let me know! (laineblea@gmail.com) Thk!
