The White Lilies

The White Lilies  Oil on wood  16" x 16"  NFS
I'm awarding myself extra points for this painting because it's big (relative to what I normally paint!)  I found myself getting a little mired in details...  and next time around must remind myself (again) to lay down big shapes first.  I've painted several variation on these lilies.  Here's a link to one of the first ones.  This might be my favorite...

  1. Lovely, DIane! You've nailed the thin fragility of the petals beautifully. Indigo x

  2. What gorgeous color harmony. Your skill at everything you paint keeps me enthralled.

  3. Bravo! I love the yellow, green, and orange background, and how the dark leaves and stem interact with the background and still pop forward! The flowers are gorgeous also :)

  4. Beautiful!!! I know what you mean about going bigger- it's a whole different challenge to get my head around! I think you totally 'got it' though!! WOW!

  5. The dark leaves is what caught my eye, Diane...pulling everything else forward. Beautifully painted.!!
