Narcissus SWEET floral still life by Hoeptner

This is a bouquet of Cream and White Narcissus discovered at the Westlake, OH Trader Joe's. LOVE that place! Heh, I wouldh've called 'em daffodils but what do I know? Apparently the Narcissus represents egotism, formality and the idea of "staying as sweet as you are."
Update:  This painting won an Honorable Mention at the Trumbull Art Gallery's 46th Annual Juried Exhibit in 2010.

  1. Diane, these are luscious! You captured the papery part around the stems beautifully.

  2. Who knew? I thought they were daffodils, too. Whatever they are called, they are beautiful - as is your painting! I like seeing your brush strokes and the simplicity of it all.

  3. Diane it's beautiful, love the colors and composition. Not to mention how well you captured the delicate beauty of the daffodils. Well done. I'm on my way back to Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop didn't have the variety.

  8. Wow! This has all my favorite elements; blue & orange, glass, and white flowers. If I weren't a starving artist myself, this would be MINE!

  10. Diane,
Every time I open your blog, I find another breath-taking painting. Flowers have to be the hardest subject to paint, which is why you don't see me painting them. You nail it every time.
