This painting will be available at the Tomato Art Festival in East Nashville, TN.  The festival takes place August 9th and 10th. 
A bit of news, I am taking a step back from daily painting/blogging this summer... So, if my posts are a little sparse between now and Fall, you've been apprised...  Can't see not painting, but I need to catch up on some house stuff.  I can't believe it's been almost two years since we moved?!  Time is flying!

June 2019 Your Cat Magazine Features Diane Hoeptner Cat Paintings

My paintings featured in "Your Cat Magazine" June issue!

Britain's best selling cat magazine has done story on moi!  "Your Cat Magazine" featured five of my paintings in the June issue! Ha, it took a minute for my sample to arrive in Ohio, but I'm happy to finally share it with you!  
I have two group shows approaching for which I will be painting new work.  One will include a bird, one a tomato...  More on those soon... Happy Summer!

Sits Alone

When painting begets more painting, you know you hit the sweet spot. It's not like these are a radical departures from anything I've done before? But they are different/fresh enough to inspire new ideas for future compositions. (Originally thought this would be 10x8 with a cat looking directly at viewer, sketch included!)

I had the idea for three paintings... Ideas were promptly sketched (before they evaporated into the ether, as ideas will do doncha know.)  Including the sketch for "Balance." Two down and maybe another to follow. I'm especially pleased with the color harmony in this one, it's better in life! 

White Maine Coon II

White cats with one blue eye and one green are often referred to as "odd eyed." Did you know all kittens are born with blue eyes? I vaguely remember Coco having blue eyes-- The guy living upstairs from me at the time had a Blue Russian and he thought Coco might be one too. Considering the patchwork quilt of lovelies my kitteh was the first to leave, it seemed unlikely. Hope you're enjoying the long weekend!

If I had to guess, based on head shape and curly fur, Devon Rex? This painting is part of a series called "Eye on Butterfly."

She's fierce. Initially photographed at a fancy cat show, this lovely had different color eyes, one blue, one green.

Perched a new cat painting

With kitten season fast approaching, it's a great time to go find a perfect companion at your local shelter!

A quick share for those of you who took an interest my kitchen saga, the settling into new house continues... Since we moved in, we've had a non working fireplace.  I put a clunky chest and tv in front of it but was never thrilled with that arrangement... Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I'm just minding my business running errands-- and THIS! Someone had thrown away a mantel! I called my dear husband who came and rescued it for me. Pictures below. :)

Here it is in front of previously mentioned clunky chest and TV, as found.

Ornamental embellishments removed, fresh paint applied.

My husband added the fireplace insert from his Mom's old place -- It has a light bulb and
rotating tin foil wheel on back. Bonus, it crackles! When we've finished removing wallpaper
and painting the walls, the TV will go somewhere else. I'm looking
forward to accessorizing it with a mirror and pictures etc... :)

Painting can be struggle! I was gonna tell you I made valiant efforts to avoid over blending this week. It occurs to me that the word "valiant" might be a bit dramatic...we dislike drama but doncha know that's how it felt? To compound matters, when one focuses on one issue, several other "issues" arise without fail. So multiply the blood-sweat-tears aspect by um, several (?lol) for as-of-yet undefined efforts at compensatory adjustments. Never a dull moment.

Reggae Rastafari Singer Mike Love, a painting for my sister

So, my sister is an avid fan of reggae singer, Mike Love. She celebrated a birthday recently.  It was gratifying to watch her open this gift...she loved it. Painting it reminded me (yet again) how much I so enjoy painting people. Happy Birthday, Deb!!

Rigo and Freesias

My Coco plays stand-in for his look a like, "Rigo" here... Rigo is my buyer's sister's cat. I'm told the beloved cat possessed a calm and wise demeanor...  He would bow his head in a silent "namaste" to those who leaned in upon him. Gotta love it. Thank you, GR!

Farmpark Goat and an 8 second video

The warmer weather here is so nice. My husband and I took another tour of Lake Metroparks Farmpark... Such a delight! Including a video of this sweet goat and his sibling. (Video also features a loud crowing rooster, you've been warned!)

Another try with the siblings, I wanted to try them on a lighter background... Happy with it, though, I may have blended the brushwork a bit much.
In other news, we have a new furface!  He shows up to eat and take a snooze in the rafters of the garage.  No petting allowed (yet!) Ha, the first time I saw him I panicked thinking Coco had somehow gotten outside. Me thinks husband will have a new garage lap cat shortly.
