Witness the impervious cat in a stoic pose

Witness  Oil on wood  8" x 8"  reserved
Every trip I make to the Cleveland Animal Protective League results in 100's of reference photos...  Very rarely do I see a cat in life and know "I will paint this cat!"  Careful consideration of all photos is a pre-requisite to painting.  But "Witness" was an exception. This cat had a uniquely impervious nature and was immune to play, he maintained this stoic pose the entire time I visited.  Not sure I did him justice, but I tried.

  1. I can really see personality of this cat come out in your painting. You captured his/her reserve nature. Beautiful painting!

  2. I've been following you for some time now and truly love seeing your new works. Lately your wonderful feline paintings never cease to amaze me not only on the technical aspects but how spot on you have become in portraying the individual character of each kitty. Truly wonderful!

  3. Such deep feeling you've conveyed about this cat - I had an immediate visceral response to your portrait of him - my heart felt opened to him as though he's right here with me and I wanted to reach out and touch him.

  4. Was Witness his Shelter given name, or one you gave him in your thoughts? In either case, how fitting. One doesn't know if these cats will make it to a forever home...but when you take their photo and paint them, at least they have not traveled unmarked in this world. They have been at least witnessed to ...what every living creature needs and deserves. Thank you for your work there
