Coco and Sunflowers cat painting by Hoeptner

Coco and Sunflowers  Oil on wood  12" x 12"  NFS
I updated my artist statement recently.  I had put off doing this ever since I started painting cats...  When I sat down to put some words to my latest paintings, I realized I really missed painting floral still lifes.  The combo of floral + cat is something I've tried a few times and threatened to do more of!  I'm really happy with this one--maybe a few more to come.

  1. Great to have a two for one deal..cats and flowers!...also the triangle of green .( lime, eyes. apple) I love your backgrounds, but this plain one has great texture and a nice painterly feel at the object's edges. More indeed!

  2. Happy to see the flowers - yes, but I love your patterns too. You are very good at everything you paint and that is why yours is one on my favorite blogs.

  3. I agree with Julie- you are truly multi-talented...and I've always enjoyed everything you paint.....and write! ( and one of the most compelling artist's statements btw!). Bravo!

  4. Paint what you love, Diane, and it's always a success! I have always loved your florals, and I was right on board with you when you added in cats, a dancing couple, horses, everything you've done. :) You are so talented! xoxo

  5. Another great painting. I love the color but I especially like the greens here. I linked to your website in a blogpost last week because I had a breakthrough in my animal paintings from looking at your cat paintings. Hope that's ok.
