Yeesh. If this painting was a contestant on American Idol, Simon Cowell would call it "self indulgent." I'd been wanting to paint my recently acquired vintage rubber squeak toys... But in this painting I also tried a different palette and a few other silly tricks. Note to self: Keep it simple.

  2. That's funny, Diane. I do love the flowers. And anyway, you painted, even if you don't love it.

I read somewhere a painter who said, "Some days my muse just doesn't show up." I feel like that lots of days.
Maybe your muse didn't show up today.

  3. Your flowers (as always) are beautiful and so realistic. I also like the sweak doll. It reminds me of going to my grandmother's house as a child. She loved to grow lots of pretty flowers and in her attic (playroom) a plastic sweak doll similar the this one was in the collection of toys that we played with. Ahh such memories :)
