Tequila Magnolias and Trader Joe's

Tequila Magnolias 12"x 12" Oil on Hardboard

Magnolias again, I wanted to simplify the original design a bit, you can see that below. I may have gotten a little fatigued and muddied some of the colors by accident. I still like it very much and will let it go for now. I've acquired fresh sunflowers, yes they are in the house and I can't WAIT to paint them!
On a side note: I just love Trader Joe's, Trader Joe's always has the BEST flowers for the LOWEST price. They also have frozen chopped green & red peppers which I will be sauteeing with some chicken for dinner tonight! Woohoo!
Update: I repainted the "sky" on this and it is now a muted blue violet, so much better than what this shows, must photograph it! If you are interested in seeing an updated photo, do email me!!

My latest... There's a little glare in this photo, will re-shoot after the painting dries. It's good to be painting again after an unscheduled (un-wanted!) but totally necessary break.

More magnolias, I just love these flowers and I have wanted to paint them ever since I started using oils. They have such a pleasant non-fussy geometry... perfect for placement in a variety of compositions. I didn't get to the companion pce. for the painting below yet, will try to get to that in the next few days.

This is a practice painting for a series of two... I love the design-ee feeling of it and especially the spring green. The pattern on bottom needs some tweaking and I will try to work that out when I do the companion piece. The reference photo for this painting was taken by my husband during a visit to the Botanical Gardens in Cleveland.

Slammin' Purple Tulips (yes, again.)

Gosh, it's so nice to be able to get outside to photograph new paintings!! Summer took a long time getting to Cleveland... Here's the purple tulips, yes again. This time, slightly smaller, each 18" x 18." These are for a project that I'm sure I'll blab about more later... But for now, they are "reserved," for more information, please email me!
