This painting began with some "outlines" and "accents" in dioxazine purple mixed with some white... I thought I'd have some clever peek throughs with it, but wow the dioxazine purple is strong and it tinted everything that went after it!! I spent the better part of an hour fighting it back with a warm ochre neutral... You can still see a generally purple/lavender influence there in the background. Not unhappy with it, it's just not exactly what I intended.

  2. I love what the dioxazine purple ultimately did for this painting...the cool-ish background with the warm-ish flower is beautiful!

  3. But this turned out gorgeous. A lucky accident, then.
