Last night, before the Lakewood, Ohio Pop Shop gallery reception got mobbed: Gallery Founder, Richard Cihlar and I posed in front of 3 of 8 paintings I have in the group show. Richard hangs the art salon style -- and the show featured a WIDE variety of original art, all themed after toys or "childhood memories." Interesting art, nice turnout & good munchies, made for a fun time had by all. My paintings will be there through mid January.

Spiral Balance
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
When I laid down to sleep last night, I was unhappy with this painting, but upon awakening, it's didn't seem quite so offensive. I like the yellow reflections on the top of the vase... LOVE the vase, which is hand made and not actually water tight. I know I can paint it better and will soon.
The Pop Shop Gallery will host a reception for it's 4th Annual True Value Vintage show in Lakewood, Ohio tonight! I have several toy paintings in this show and look forward to attending. If you are in the area, please stop by!

Tagged

OMgosh, I've so been tagged! First by the wonderful artist/blogger, Carol Schiff! --Then Sheila Vaughn, Mark Adams and then Silvina Day!!
Fellow artists, some of you make these silly lists look so easy and you are so entertaining.... Me, yeah, not so much. Some of the people who tagged me were on MY TAG LIST, heheh, which I've now had to revise. For anyone I tagged: Please know "no offense taken" if you DON'T respond in kind!! The rules of tagging are as follows: 1. Put a link in your posting to the person who tagged you. 2. List 7 unusual things about yourself. 3. Tag 7 other bloggers at the end of your post and comment on their blogs to let them know.
1. My Jamaican Pepperpot Stew cures all ills. Don't ask for the recipe, it's too much trouble and this daggone list just sucked up my last bit of free time. (:
2. I swoon with sadness and glee when Ray LaMontagne sings.
3. I didn't get married 'til I was 42. ...and my husband may be as "difficult" as I am. However: our various dysfunctions are fabulously compatible, so it works out ok.
4. I covet a (wealthy) friend's exotic vacations. It's probably very annoying to her.
5. I was a counselor at a suicide prevention hotline in Los Angeles for 3 years.
6. A little while back, I took a break from all-things-art. I learned about and sold antique lighting and door hardware on Ebay. I have over 2500 (all) positive feedbacks. (The dolphin above is actually a lamp final.)
7. I quit smoking a year and a half ago, but now I'm addicted to Trident Spearmint gum. Fascinating stuff-huh?! (:
And here are the seven folks I hope you will check out.
1. Joan Breckwoldt
2. Pat Washington
3. ATM, ART, TILES & MOSAICS
4. Bradley Schenck
5. Otto Lange
6. Sandra Flood
7. Stefan Nuetzel

Woohoo! Pete the Dog made the MOCA flyer: (Click to see full size.)
Honestly, I'm still under the weather, but it's just a cold, not the flu thank goodness. Nothing a few shots 'o Dayquil can't cure. I am getting more

Flower Arrangement and the BAYarts Gallery Show
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
I mentioned this painting yesterday. It took some scrape-offs and more than a few HOURS to finish. I think adding the second vase with more flowers caused me to paint with entirely too much caution.
In other news: I've been juried into the BAYarts Gallery Holiday Gift Show in Bay Village, OH. The gallery is beautifully situated across the street from Lake Erie in a residential area. It is walking distance from the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center and the Huntington Playhouse. A selection of my small floral still lifes will be available beginning November 26th through the end of December.

Pretty Gerbers
SOLD
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
Love the warm, monotone feeling of this one. It was created after I limped and staggered through another painting. It's happened before: Struggle and curse at one painting, then start another and it paints itself in half the time! LOVE that!

Gerber Daisies
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
Layla the cat had to be given a FLEA/TICK bath. She's only had one other bath in 6 years and well, she didn't appreciate that one either. She scrambled, clawed and hissed the whole time. Two shampoos and two rinses. ...and one pair of ripped rubber gloves. I would have rinsed Coco too, but he saw her being carried out of the bathroom and disappeared QUICK. It was VERY traumatic and not just for her!Regarding today's painting: Yes I'll say it, I LOVE it. Wanna paint it again bigger when I get the chance.

Pinocchio with the Bluest Eyes
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
It is freaking FREEZING here with snow flurries. As many winters as I've spent in NE Ohio, it never ceases to amaze me just HOW FAST and HOW COLD it does get. This Pinocchio on SpongeBob beach chair will at the Pop Shop Gallery in Lakewood, OH in December!

More Flowers
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
This painting came out kind of retro 60's... If I hadn't left the orange toned canvas showing, maybe not... But I like it.

Ducks in a Row
If interested, please email: diane@dianehoeptner.com
Here's the wood duck pulltoy again. This one is a little bigger, 8x10. It's for the 4th Annual True Value Vintage show at the Pop Shop Gallery in Lakewood, OH. I added "googly eyes" to the front two ducks and left the back ducky asleep.
