Sunflower Trio Re-worked!
Oh, I like these sunflowers SO much more now. They began with varying degrees of bright BLUE backgrounds-- To see 'em "before," scroll down! The only exception is the orange ones, THEY looked better on blue--but as a series the warm neutral brown backgrounds pull the whole thing together. I punched up the pink one a bit too.

Orange Lillies I
Purchase Here
Call me a flower paintin' fool, companion piece to follow tomorrow. A little glare on the photo... These flowers are poisonous to cats, so I've been careful to keep fallen petals and leaves off the floor.
Our cat Layla is ravenous for greens and has been getting downright sneaky in her tactics to get outside. When she finally does get outside all she does is eat grass (??) which she later throws up inside the house. ...and that's much more than you needed to know, so that'll be all for today. (:

Sun I 6" x 6" Oil on Canvas Panel $95For purchase information: diane@dianehoeptner.com
Someone "in-the-know" told me that the color blue is a hard sell in the home decor market. I admit, this painting and the two I will post next are my idea of SUPER PRETTY and SUPER COMMERCIAL. But I'm not above replacing the un-popular blue backgrounds if it makes the paintings even more mainstream... Will give 'em a minute to dry first.

2 Portraits
Sister & Nephew 6" x 6" Oil on Canvas Panel NFSHere's a then and now portrait of my sister and her eldest son. Top portrait is a combination of color pencil and watercolor on Arches paper, it was done a few years ago. The one on bottom is today's efforts. I sure don't have the CONTROL in oils that I had with pencils. But I'm SO ok with that, in fact I don't even miss it.

Wood Duck Pull Toy
Wood Duck Pull Toy 8" x 8" Oil on Canvas Panel
This 1940's duck pull toy is so cute. I'm sure I'll paint it again. Ducks originally had "googly eyes" and all but one on the yellow duck had been plucked out... I like 'em better without googly eyes.

Pictures of Arts Collinwood Gallery Show

Here's a shot of me looking nice and SMASHED-which I wasn't, really. ...and a picture of the Arts Collinwood Gallery. My work will be there through September sometime... I really want to do some bigger paintings, but worry about the time & supplies they require ...not to mention all the smaller paintings I COULD have painted if bigger ones don't work out.
