This skull sits between a miniature (working) engine and a kaleidescope on my husband's collectibles shelf. He found it along with the rest of the skeleton inside an old tree stump. He thinks it's from a "weasel-type" animal. I'm happy with this painting.

  1. Nice job Diane. I like the painterly brushwork and the contrast between the flower and the skull.

  2. I like ths painting too. I love how you handled the color and the composition, especially you that greenery is cropped at the edge of the canvas. And great red pop of color. very nice!

  3. Very cool! I'm very fond of the subject matter. This has to look so great framed and hung. I imagine that red flower against the pale backdrop would draw someone from across the room.

  4. Carol, thanks so much. I'm trying to experiment with different value balances. LOVE your latest DOG portrait! Joan: Thank you! Silvina: Yes! I haven't painted a skull since art school, really enjoyed painting this one. Thanks very much for the comment.
